Before you start working with members, you'll have the opportunity to meet your fellow Helpers and HQ staff as part of our training program.
This training equips you for the basics of the Helper role. You'll learn about Lively and our mission, and do a deeper dive into the lived experiences of older generations. We'll then walk step by step through the process of booking in and providing support to Lively members, from beginning to end.
Once you have completed your Fundamentals training, you will have the opportunity to complete the following additional modules before you can undertake the relevant Lively service.
Tech Help (3h)—Equipping you for 1:1 tech help as well as group tech programs.
Help Around the Home (3h)—Equipping you to provide basic domestic help for members needing a hand around the house.
Transport (1h, online module)—Getting you ready to transport members where they need to go. In addition to this, you will need to complete Lively's transport agreement and submit documentation for your vehicle. Scroll down for more information, or visit our 'Transport' page.
Social Gardening (1.5h)—Prepping you to work safely in the garden alongside Lively members.
Personal Projects (1.5h)—Training you to support members to set and achieve short-term creative or social goals for themselves.
You will be updated on the upcoming training calendar in your Fundamentals training. At any other time you can contact the Helper Coordinator to request training in any of the above areas or to be updated on upcoming sessions.
Read through the following sections of the Helper Hub, and have the website accessible on a device for your first training session. This will give you a broad overview of how things work, and then you'll have the opportunity to get into the nitty-gritty and apply things in practice during your first training session.
