Even when you are well-prepared and equipped, you might come across a hazard, either to yourself, or to a Lively member, when you are on the job. When you do so, it's essential you be adaptable to ensure everyone's safety.
You can record a hazard at any time through your Lively app. This may be any kind of psychological, physical, in-home or equipment hazard that creates risk for either you or the member, including any medical or health conditions they may experience.
Visit the member's 'About me' page on their member profile.
Scroll down to 'My risks', where you can 'Add new' hazard under one of the following categories:
Around the home
Equipment
Physical (usually to be filled in by the case manager or referrer)
Psychological (usually to be filled in by the case manager or referrer)
When adding a new hazard, identify the hazard from the dropdown menu, and upload a photo, if appropriate, with the member's permission.
Next, you will need to assess the severity of the hazard, and note down any actions you will be taking to manage it.
If you need to help from Lively HQ to manage the hazard, select 'Flag for follow-up from Lively HQ', and one of the team will reach out about how best to support you.
When a hazard is no longer a problem, you should revisit it on the member's profile, and re-tag it as 'No longer a hazard'.
Note: if you want to add a 'Physical' or 'Psychological' hazard for a given member that has not previously been recorded, please always flag it with HQ, so we can ensure that it is brought to the attention of any case managers or key contacts.
If, at any time (including when you first arrive at a member's home), you don't feel safe in the environment, leave it immediately and call the appropriate Care Manager or Support Coordinator to discuss a course of action. Here are some ways you can excuse yourself:
"Sorry, can we pause for just one moment? I just need to go outside and make a quick call to [their Care Manager/Support Coordinator's name]. Will you excuse me?"
"Sorry, I think I might have left my headlights on/my handbrake off. Can you just excuse me for a second?"
