It's important that you understand your rights as an employee! Please take a look at the Fair Work Information Statement and Casual Employment Information Statement below for essential info about your entitlements at work.
Lively's work is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award 2010, which outlines minimum rates of pay, hours of work and other conditions for your work with us! Check out the award here.
At present, Lively uses two different employee classifications under the award to guide decisions about your pay and other entitlements at work:
Home Care Employee Level 2 (covering your work at members' homes)
Social and Community Services Employee Level 1 (covering your work in libraries and community centres as part of Lively's community tech help program)
You might have some questions about casual employment! Please take a read of the Casual Employment Information Statement below from the Fair Work Ombudsman so you understand your rights and entitlements.
You can also visit the Casual Employees section of the Fair Work Ombudsman's website for more information. There are lots of great, accessible resources there and we encourage you to ask us about your entitlements at any time!
If you have questions about casual conversion, feel free to reach out! Lively has received advice that, for these purposes, we are currently defined as a 'small business'.
As a casual employee, you are entitled to minimum hours of work.
Work with Members in their homes (or at ‘private residences’) is classified as ‘Home Care Employee - Casual’. The minimum session length that you are paid for is 2 hours. The majority of Lively work fits into this classification.
Work with groups at community locations is classified ‘Social and Community Services Employee - casual’. The minimum session length that you are paid for is 3 hours. This covers the tech help progrmas that we run in libraries.
As a casual employee with a small business, you are entitled to request conversion to full-time or part-time permanent employment when you have been employed with is for over 12 months, worked a regular pattern of hours over a period of at least 6 months, and you are likely to continue to work those hours as a full time or part-time employee without significant changes needed.
Lively HQ will also endeavour to reach out to you to inform you after 12 months' employment whether we've assessed you are eligible for conversion, as we want to offer part-time or full-time options wherever possible.
If you would like to make a request or discuss whether you think you would be eligible, please contact the Helper Coordinator.
