We pay according to the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability (SCHADS) Industry Award. Within this award, Lively work fits into two classifications:
Work with Members in their homes (or at ‘private residences’) is classified as ‘Home care employee, level 2—aged care—Home Carer (casual)’. The minimum session length that you are paid for is 2 hours. The majority of Lively work fits into this classification.
Work with groups at community locations is classified ‘Social and Community Services Employee, level 1 - casual’. The minimum session length that you are paid for is 3 hours. This covers the tech help workshops that we run in libraries, community centres and neighbourhood houses.
Other Lively work, including check-ins, project & design, training, is classified as Home Care Employee, level 2 - casual’ rates.
For our casual employees, we pay a base rate of $41.55 per hour before tax and super for Lively work engagements. This amount includes the 25% casual loading and is just above the quoted SCHADS Award rate for a casual Home Care Employee, level 2— aged care—pay point 2.
Pay rates vary depending on time of day, day of the week and if there is a public holiday. Common variations to expect are tabled below.
Monday to Friday (6am - 8pm): $41.55
Non-Standard Hours: $45.71
Saturdays: $58.18
Sundays: $74.80
Public Holidays: $91.42
In general, your sessions should be booked between 6am and 8pm, Monday to Friday. Any exceptions should be negotiated with the member and HQ.
Please note that the prices we charge members and partners for Helper sessions increase in the same multiplier as the above pay rates. We review and revise pay rates annually on 1st July in line with the adjustments made to the industry award (SCHADS).
Note that you are entitled to request conversion to a permanent part-time or full-time position at Lively after you have been employed with us for over 12 months and if you meet certain criteria—head to 'Your Rights' for further information!
Some helpers also undertake operational roles with our Matching and Support teams. In light of the additional responsibilities undertaken by these helpers, they are covered by higher classification levels, with a base pay of $44.96 per hour. Please reach out to Paul if you have any questions about this.
Helpers are all eligible for the Superannuation Guarantee Contribution of 12% on all ordinary earnings.
You will see any super on your fortnightly payslip and these super contributions are paid once per quarter to your chosen super fund.
